In Late February of this year Google Adsense and now many other monetizing type programs now require all publishers to publicly state a privacy policy section, page, paragraph that can be readily available to all potential visitors.
Google's updated Terms of Service, required most publishers to reread the updated TOS agreement and then click that they read it. But I have often heard and seen that most publishers just ticked and clicked without reading or fully understanding what it was they read. Myself included.
It turns out that as a publisher, we are now required to create our own Privacy Policy for our sites that clearly discloses that third parties may be placing and reading cookies on your users’ browser, or using web beacons to collect information, in the course of ads being served on your website.
So, to stay loyal to Google Adsense’s TOS, you really should create your own Privacy Policy.
My Privacy Policy can be found in the footer section, as that seems like a decent spot and is where you can find Google's on their site.
How about you, do you already have your own Privacy Policy? You can just copy mine if you want, just edit the pertinent information to make it suit your site. Or you can use this Privacy Policy generator for a more formal one.
And again I stress that many other programs like Adsense are also now requiring websites to have a Policy in place, and if you are unsure as to your favorite program if they require one. Best play it safe and add one.
