I just recently wrote an article on the importance of Alexa today, and this blogger has been making great strides with his Alexa ranking. Want to see a fast mover, rising in Alexa rank? Head on over to this site, home of Marcus Hochstadt. It is no wonder that his traffic and Alexa rank have been moving so well. Check out this great networking built within this contest. Genious and great marketing skills that will surely improve his Alexa rank yet even more.

He is throwing a party, not because of his Alexa rankings, which was supposed to be the reason, but because he felt like throwing a party anyhow since those Alexa stats got knocked about recently with the latest changes. What is the party? Well it is a contest in which many other bloggers and people have put up some pretty impressive prizes. Best part about these prizes and the contest is that it is truly easy for anyone to enter. Regardless of niche or blog or website you can enter and still find a useful prize for you to win. Blog Me The Money on 45n5's Top 100

Well it is a tad stretch, Blog Me the Money is indeed listed on the top 100 list but not quite near the top 100. A recent addition to the very popular top list for blogs whose niche is all about making money online and monetizing ones website. Pulled directly from Mark's top list page,

45n5 rank was designed to organize and feature the best blogs on the internet that discusss making money online. This web page is a must bookmark for anybody interested in the who's who of making money online and the freshest tips and techniques for making that money.

With that said, Blog Me The Money, is very thrilled to be accepted and listed with the other afore mentioned blogs, "the best blogs...", which include some heavy hitters and very popular well known bloggers. Those including the likes of Dosh Dosh, Pro Blogger, Shoe Money, and John Chow, as well as many more blogs. Too many to list but all very well written about and authored.

Mark compiles data for well over 300 blogs and shows the current data for, Alexa ranking, Technorati links, and Page Rank (Google), and then uses this data to rank all the blogs in popularity. No small task when you have to analyze 300 plus blogs as well as look after your own blog.

Blog Me The Money is honored to be on that list and a look on the home page , lower right side of my home page will show an icon with the current ranking. If you do have a blog that would fit this niche I recommend heading on over and submitting your blog for review with Mark. You will be glad you did! What originally I thought would be a novel idea at first for "inspiring" me to improve upon my blog, and a good way to keep track of said "improvements" was for me to submit Blog Me The Money to Mark for entry. I never gave a thought about any type of traffic coming from this and little did I know that the traffic that would flow from 45n5.com would be quite significant and appear "over night".

That said I would like to thank Mark for all his hard work and effort for making this valuable top list.

I would also like to mention a good article on 45n5.com about the worth of the blogs found on his top list. A neat article giving a rough idea on a blogs worth. A good read indeed.

My Update To Blog Directories

. Sunday, April 13, 2008

Recently I wrote an article on how to make use of blog directories as well as a nice list of various types of directories that one can submit their blog and or website too. Well I recently stumble across a rather nifty blog, or directory, take your pick, that is human edited, free and basically acts as a directory for blogs. This site also allows you to chose your own anchor text and an associated deep URL to go with it which is pretty nifty for gaining inbound links and page rank for specific key words.

If you write a review about the site, then you can not only be listed in the most recent additions to the directory, which everyone gets a crack at, but you can also be listed in the most recent reviews section which I am gathering stick about much longer than the most recently added section. If you have a blog that writes about SEO techniques or link building strategies or other traffic building strategies then send them a link as well to your article as this could be yet one more way to build traffic to your site. They have an article submission list as well. All in all you can get some pretty good free links to your site here as well as sift through similar related blogs to add to your reading list, comment strategies etc etc. All in all a nifty new site that I will be keeping an eye on for sure. The site you ask?

Steve Pavlina Uses Blog Carnivals To Attract 50,000 Visitors

Not a bad number indeed! And to think you too can copy what he has sucessfuly been doing and get that sort of traffic or more yourself.

What is a blog Carnival?

Think of it as being a type of "blogging community. On the internet there are millions of blogs and maybe millions of niche categories making up one pile of articles. A Carnival community collects the blogs together of a specific niche or topic and groups their articles together. Think magazine, in which your niche is published weekly, monthly or however often the publisher see's fit.

How does this benefit Me?

Well for starters it gives your articles a much broader audience. And with some well written content it will attract readers to your blog. Carnivals also offer one way inbound links to your site which weigh more than a traded or reciprocal link exchange and they are FREE.

So find yourself a Carnival that fits closely to your blogs niche, pick your best articles and content and submit those articles to get them published. Not a bad way to gain a handful of new subscribers to your RSS feeds or perhaps even hundreds with each round of submissions.

Steve Pavlina wrote, How To Make Money From Your Blog, and in this article he states,

In my early traffic-building days, I’d do carnivals submissions once a week, and it helped a great deal in going from nothing to about 50,000 visitors per month. You still have to produce great content, but carnivals give you a free shot at marketing your unknown blog for free. Carnivals are like an open-mic night at a comedy club - they give amateurs a chance to show off their stuff. I still submit to certain carnivals every once in a while, but now my traffic is so high that relatively speaking, they don’t make much difference anymore.
With that said, why are you still here reading? Go submit to your Blog Carnival!
And Best of Luck!

Learn How To Make Money From a 14 Year Old!

. Saturday, March 22, 2008

And believe me, that’s no joke. Ever heard of Carl Ocab of carlocab.com? If you haven’t, it’s probably because you haven’t been blogging for very long. Carl is a world-famous 14-year-old kid from the Philippines who runs one heck of a blog about how to make a fortune online.

While some kids his age are playing video games and sleeping in, Carl is working his butt off on his blog and ranking number one in a Google search for the term “make money online.” Carl Ocab Dot Com has been featured in his national newspaper, has been covered by some of the greatest bloggers on the Internet, and—perhaps most importantly—all of his current advertising on his blog is completely sold out.
Carl Ocab is a great blog to highlight here on Advertising Blogger, specifically because it’s a great example of what you can do online if you work hard and set your mind to it. If a 14-year-old kid can make a ton of advertising cash with a blog—even with school and chores getting in the way—then there’s really no reason why you can’t, too. And no, there isn’t a big secret to how Carl got where he is. He kept blogging, networking, and getting back links, and put together an awesome advertising page that tells potential advertisers how they can benefit from purchasing ads on his site.
If you get a chance, go check out Carl Ocab’s About Page to learn a little bit more about how he got into blogging and rose to become one of the most influential bloggers on the Internet. But keep this in mind: becoming a much-visited site is a great thing, but monetizing that traffic will take you from blogging as a hobby to being a professional blogger. If Carl Ocab can do that at age 14, you can do it, too!
