Having recently browsed about for popular posts widget for blogger, I came across many posts and blogs mentioning outdated hacks and codes and services from websites that have long folded or moved. Then I came across a service from Spotplex. A simple generator that takes care of all the analyzing on their website and a javascript snippet you can add right on your layout page. How simple is that!

How to install the tracking code?

  1. Head on over to the website Spotplex
  2. In the top right hand corner is a light blue box that says “Get your Spotplex code”. Click on it
  3. Register your blog
  4. Fill all the information out, title, summary, category type, language, email and the various " I agree" terms. (Assuming you do indeed agree)
  5. Get Your Code! Remember to Choose Blogger as your blog type. Then hit that "Install Spotplex widget" button once you finish your selections.
You have now just finished installing the code that will track all your page views. The workhorse part of the widget. Now that you have this installed all you need to do is generate that nifty little snippet of code I mentioned at the very beginning.

So back on the main Spotplex page, you will see a green get widget button at the top of the page. Near that big light blue box you clicked on before. Click it.

How to install the Popular Posts Widget?

  1. Click the get widget below the header (Mentioned it a couple lines up)
  2. Scope: Chose "Specific Blog"
  3. Type: Your URL then select "Popular Articles"
  4. Options Section: Pick the time frame you wish to have results shown from. 24h will only show the popular posts over the last 24 hours. All time will show the most popular posts from the onset of this installation to the current date.
  5. Choose the size and then how many posts you wish to show
  6. Click Get This Widget
  7. Now copy the code shown in the box on the right hand side
  8. Login to your Blogger Account
  9. On the Dashboard section click "Layout" Tab
  10. on the element tab, pick "Add a page element"
  11. Under the page element “HTML/Javascript”, click "Add to Blog"
  12. Paste the code from Spotplex and save the page element
Thats it, you have installed everything and after waiting for a few minutes or 10, you should be able to start clicking on your posts to test out the widget. You should see the articles with the amount of times it has been seen.

Please subscribe to my Feed if you liked this post.

Hi Curious,

I couldn't agree more! That widget was simple, and provided all sorts of analytics and could be customized. Ive been looking around now too. Tried using the Affiliate Brand widget but it doesn't seem to be doing anything. I know the Feedjit one is there but I think it only shows the popular posts for the day. That leaves Google analytics and entering info by hand which I don't feel overly motivated to do. :) Let me know if you find a good replacement it would be greatly appreicated!
