I have just recently posted quite a few links to various directories as well as link traffic generating sites for websites and blogs. Some of which are a true directories, others social network like sites or the often found site rating and toplist, backlink type sites. All of which are very good for building backlinks, traffic and page rank. But the most often overlooked thing about these directories that rarely gets used and could possibly be the biggest key in growing your traffic is that of , the other blogs and sites listed within these directories.

I know many of you are wondering exactly what it is I am talking about or rambling on about by now.

Quite simply put, these directories typically are broken down into categories and most often, wherever your blog or website is situated and placed in the directory, other similar blogs and websites with the same or similar type information can be found. As the webamster and owner of your website or blog, you should be taking note and visiting these blogs and sites. Even returning to visit every so often to see if anyone responded to any comments you made. Why? they may have the traffic you wish or need. Why not head on over, read and take in the website/blog and then leave a well thought out comment offering useful advice and tips, and try to build positive communication. At which time, perhaps leave a link to your own blog or a link to a similar article that you wrote giving you a deep link with the anchor text you want. With some luck and good manners, the owner of the blog may review your site, offer a reciprocal link and in turn increase your visitor count. After all how often do you find yourself reading comments and then checking out another blog because of a well formed and well thought out comment? If you are like me, quite often!
So when submitting your blog or site to directories remember to check out those who are listed with you. But please, do remember your manners and be constructive and positive with your comments if you do not wish to see your comment be deleted as fast as you entered it. People do not like spam or others trying to poach on their traffic and readers.
